For years, families in Kizungu village walked over two kilometres to fetch water from a seasonal stream, often unsafe for drinking. This month, the Rotary Club of Konge Lukuli partnered with the local water board to fully rehabilitate the village borehole, which had been broken down for over a year.
What we did
- Replaced the worn hand pump mechanism and rising main
- Rebuilt the concrete apron and drainage to prevent contamination
- Trained a village water committee on basic maintenance
Over 400 residents, including three primary schools, now have reliable access to clean water within walking distance. We are grateful to the members and partners who made this project possible, and to the village water committee who will keep it running for years to come.
